Richness
A unique landscape, eventful history, architectural monuments, exceptional climate, multitude of mineral waters. Two national parks: Karkonosze National Park and Table Mountains National Park, sanctuaries, landscape parks, extinct volcanoes (yes, we have extinct volcanoes in Poland) are, to make the long story short, the greatest attractions of Lower Silesian voivodeship. It is here where the oldest tree in Poland is located. You can see it in Henryków Lubański. Lower Silesia – the origin of statehood, numerous monuments of defensive architecture: strongholds, fortifications, beautiful cities – all of this combined tempts to get to know the region.
Land of health resorts
We are in an absolutely unbelievable part of Poland as far as medicinal benefits are concerned. Lower Silesian health resorts are places for people wanting peaceful relax. For people who desire enjoying carefree rest. Numerous health resorts and sanatoriums treat rheumatologic diseases, neuralgias, osteoporosis, diseases and catarrhs of upper respiratory tract. You can recover quicker if you suffer from ischemic heart disease as well as myocardial infarction. It won’t harm to strengthen your vitality but the choice of the best water will be a tough one as there are over a dozen of them. Mineral waters enjoy their reputation not only in Poland but also in remote areas of the world. Climate is conducive to rest in every season of the year. Mild and refreshing.
Wrocław
Lower Silesian voivodeship is sometimes called a land of castles and palaces. Mysterious, charming cities, mountain holiday resorts and even underground cities. The most prominent monuments are to be looked for in large cities and towns of the region, which is also full of cultural attractions. Wroclaw, the largest of the cities in the region, has a lot to offer. The old town, the Racławice Panorama, Cethedral Island (Ostrów Tumski). It is the Venice of the North, as proudly called by inhabitants. Truly it is nothing short of. Wroclaw has also some other aces in the holes. Parks and gardens among them; worth visiting is magnificently managed zoo, which by most people is probably associated with Mr and Mrs Gucwinski’s passion for animals. One of the largest city squares, gothic city hall, sacral architecture monuments and of course the notorious Wroclaw bridges: the Iron (Żelazny), Tumski, Grunwaldzki, Sandy (Piaskowy) and Mill (Młyński) bridges. The abovementioned Cathedral Island (Ostrów Tumski) has a long history. As early as in Xth century there was a settlement and residence of Piast family. Wroclaw lost a lot of its original charm after World War II, when nearly 80% of the city was razed to the ground. The Museum of Post and Telecomunication, the only institution of this sort in Poland, the Museum of Architecture, art festivals, like the Polish Contemporary Music Festival, “Wratislavia Cantans” International Oratory-Cantata Festival, WroArt Festival, international student festivals, they all make the city very interesting to visit and perfect for relax, entertainment and pondering.
Castles, small castles and forts
It is worth it to give a go to Kłodzko, Jelenia Góra, Świdnica, Karpacz, Szklarska Poręba… Yes, ladies and gentlemen, Lower Silesia is truly a mine of attractions and discussing all of them would take a fair couple of days, even for a sophisticated storyteller. Fans of advanced history will be delighted to visit a well-kept Sanctuary in Trzebnica as well as castles in Brzeg, Bolków, Książ and Oleśnica. Also worth to take a look at are kurgans located near Oborniki and of course Milicz Ponds (Stawy Milickie). Enthusiasts of foot walks and contact with nature are advised to visit the Massif of Ślęża and Tąpadła pass. The curious should go to mineralogical museum. As for geographical attractions we cannot fail to recommend Karkonosze Mountains. Although visited by crowds of tourists they still are a peaceful place with plenty of delightful landscapes. Fans of active rest will find many options to do some sports there. It is hard to overlook that active tourism becomes more and more popular. Picturesque trails, numerous bicycle paths, canoe and cross-country skiing trails and ski slopes are waiting. Orlicke Mountains, Bialskie Mountains, Table Mountains, Jelenia Góra valley and Karkonosze Mountains enjoy similar popularity.
